The Player by Forward Thinking Designs is a full-featured audio player plugin for QSC Q-SYS. The Player automatically ramps audio playback in and out for smooth, natural starts and stops in your venue.

We've made the decision to release The Player free to the public. We hope it finds its way into all of your shows and projects.

Full Playback Functionality
  • Play and Stop commands fade with user-controlled Attack and Release parameters.

  • Load playlists or individual files, and shuffle, repeat, or skip.

  • Scrub controls to seek through a track or specify playback start points.

Announcements and Voice-Overs
  • ​Duck command to gracefully transition to announcements or voiceovers

    • User-controlled Trim, Attack, and Release

  • Loop playback, with Loop Gap of up to 24 hours.

64 Output Channels
  • A generous maximum of 64 output channels, to handle virtually any file you might use.

    • Per-channel gain / mute and player mute

    • Independent channel meters

Use of the plugin is contingent on your acceptance of our Plugin Software License Agreement. The plugin will function in a limited demo mode until activated with a license key purchased from Forward Thinking Designs.

License Keys are manually generated and usually sent out within two hours of your purchase for orders received from 9 AM - 5 PM EST.

Frequently Asked Questions

What version of Q-SYS™ is supported?

Version 7.0.0 and later are supported.

For Cores running Version 9.0 and later, The Player must be updated to v1.1.0.

Can I use The Player in my project?

Yes. In fact, we hope you do. The Player by Forward Thinking Designs has been released as a gift to the Q-SYS community, and we want to see as many people as possible benefit from it. However, we would appreciate hearing how you've used it. Drop us a line at and tell us about your project!

How do I find my Core Locking ID?

Your Core Locking ID can be found in Core Manager. Select the "Licensing" Tab. The Locking ID is visible under the "Core Information" heading. Click the Copy button to copy the Locking ID to your clipboard.
